The Verdict
The Daily30+ supplement from Zoe might help to increase levels of favourable gut bacteria in healthy adults. However, this study was not blinded or placebo controlled, therefore the claims on improving subjective outcomes (e.g. mood and gut symptoms) are not supported.

The Research
A randomised controlled trial conducted by the scientists at ZOE investigated the benefits of consuming two servings of this supplement every day for 6-weeks. 116 people took the supplement, 120 took the control (calorie matched breadcrumbs) and 113 took a probiotic (L rhamnosus GG 15 billion cfu).
Compared to the control, the supplement improved symptoms of indigestion, constipation, heartburn, and gas, as well as mood and energy. However, participants were not blinded so may be subject to bias.
Compared to the probiotic, the supplement improved constipation and reduced hunger.
Compared to the control and probiotic, the supplement lead to an increase in more “favourable” species of gut bacteria.
