The Research
A randomized, controlled trial in 40 healthy people found that the Ecologic probiotic at a dose of 2.5 billion cfu for 4 weeks may help to improve mood related to reduced rumination and aggressive thoughts. Another randomized, controlled trial in 71 people with depression found that the probiotic at the same dose also reduced cognitive reactivity in those with mild to moderate depression, but not severe depression.
A randomized, controlled trial in 58 healthy women found that Ecologic probiotic at a dose of 2.5 billion cfu may help to reduce some of the stress-related effects on memory.
An open-label study in 29 people who suffer from migraines found that Ecologic Barrier at a dose of 2.5 billion cfu for 12 weeks may help to reduce the intensity and frequency of migraines. However, this was not a placebo-controlled study.
