Intestinal Microbiota Transplant Treatment in IBS-D

Are you ready to take control of your IBS-D symptoms and be part of a groundbreaking study that could change the game for IBS treatment?

Welcome to Tummy MOT's latest study.

What is the study?

We’re shaping the future of IBS treatment.

The study is a pioneering clinical trial being carried out by our experts at The Functional Gut Clinic. The treatment is known as IMT (intestinal microbiota transplantation). This involves taking bacteria from healthy individuals and transplanting them into individuals with a disease that could be related to the bacteria in the gut.

Both the donors and their stools have been extensively screened before the product is processed, to produce a standardised consortium of bacteria in powder form, which is contained within a capsule.

The theory behind IMT is that the gut bacteria from healthy individuals may help correct imbalances of bacteria in those with gastrointestinal symptoms. IMT has been very successfully used in the treatment of the GI condition C.difficile infection and research is now being conducted in a number of others conditions.

And we need you!

More about the treatment

Who can take part?

We’re looking for people who:

  • Have IBS with Diarrhoea (IBS-D), with no other conditions that could explain your symptoms
  • Live in the UK with easy access to our clinics in Manchester or London
  • Are able to come to the clinic in-person
  • Are happy to take our tests in-clinic and give samples as explained by our team

Aside from meeting the criteria for IBS-D, you’ll also need to meet the remaining inclusion and exclusion criteria to take part. This will be assessed by a member of the study team.

What’s involved?

As a participant, we’ve designed the study so it’s as easy as possible for you to take part. You’ll be asked to:

  • Come to the clinic in person 6 times over a 9-week period  in Manchester or London.
  • Take the treatment (capsules) as directed, alongside doing some simple tests with our clinic team and giving some samples

You’ll be able to claim inconvenience payments of up to £100 per visit and be fully compensated for all travel. Get in touch with us for more details at hello@tummymot.com

How to apply:

Simply answer a few questions on our application form. Our team will be in touch to chat with you about the study in more detail.
