IBS-D (vitamin D, curcumin and green tea)

For people with IBS-D, there is a lack of well-tolerated therapies to help alleviate symptoms. And this can greatly affect your quality of life.

We’re dedicated to investigating possible non-pharmacological options that are safe and effective. To do that, we’re calling for people with IBS-D to take part in our upcoming research trial.

What's the study about?

Three food supplements (vitamin D, green tea and curcumin) have been linked with reduced symptoms individually. But they’ve never been tested together in a combined supplement…until now.

The team of experts at The Functional Gut Clinic will be investigating the effects of a combined food supplement to see whether it could benefit IBS-D sufferers (compared to a placebo).

This is your opportunity to be part of innovative research and help us to understand the effects of this supplement – in order to improve the lives of people with IBS-D.

Who can take part?

We’re looking for people who:

  • Have IBS with diarrhoea (IBS-D), with no other conditions that could explain your symptoms
  • Live in the UK and are able to come in-person to one of our clinics in Cambridge, London or Manchester
  • Are happy to take our tests in-clinic and give samples as explained by our team

As well as meeting the criteria for IBS-D*, you’ll also need to meet some other key inclusion and exclusion criteria to take part. This will be assessed by a member of the study team.

What will be involved?

We’ve designed the study so it’s as easy as possible for people to take part.

As a participant, you’ll be asked to:

  • Visit The Functional Gut Clinic in-person 3 times over a 70-day period
  • Take the study capsules as directed for 56 days (2 months), alongside completing a bowel habit diary
  • Do some simple tests with our clinic team and give some samples

You’ll be able to claim compensation for each visit and you’ll be reimbursed for travel expenses.

How can I apply?

Simply answer a few questions on our application form here. Our team will then be in touch to chat with you about the study in more detail.
