The Verdict
One serving of AG1 meets the daily needs of some nutrients which support immune function including vitamin C and zinc. However, most ingredients in AG1 are likely to be in much smaller doses to have any clinical benefit when compared to human clinical trials. While AG1 has conducted two studies in humans, the most evidence was for promoting beneficial gut bacteria. The second human study was an observational study which does not offer strong evidence.

The Research
Probiotics:
Bifidobacterium bifidum – UABb-10: 3.6 billion CFU
Lactobacillus acidophilus – UALa-01: 3.6 billion CFU
To our knowledge, the strains UABb-10 and UAL-01 have not been studied independently or in combination in humans to show any particular benefit.
For all other ingredients:
AG1 contains over 70 ingredients but does not list the amounts of each ingredient. Therefore, it is almost impossible to compare it to clinical trials of individual ingredients.
According to the nutritional profile, one serving meets daily requirements for vitamins C and zinc, which may support immunity.
AG1 conducted a clinical trial in 30 healthy adults which showed that consumption of AG1 for one month was able to increase the numbers of beneficial gut bacteria (Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus).
AG1 also conducted an observational study in 35 healthy adults whereby it was found that over the 3-months of consuming AG1, the majority of adults felt more energise, had less gas and bloating, were less stressed, saw improvements in their skin, and had less cravings during the day. It is important to note that this was self-reported and so there may be bias, which means the findings may not be because of the AG1.
Other studies which weren’t conducted in humans:
AG1 conducted an in vitro to demonstrate the bioavailability and bioaccessibility of the ingredients within their green powder. While the study did show significantly more uptake of vitamins and minerals compared to tablet form, this was only shown in cell models. These results would not necessarily reflect what would happen in vivo (in humans).
AG1 conducted a study in the Structure and Functionality in the Simulator of Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem® (SHIME) Model which showed that AG1 induces positive changes on the gut microbiota and increases levels of short chain fatty acids. However, these results do not always translate to humans.
